Nearly eight years after escaping her sex trafficker, Breahannah Leary, 36, continues to live through the ordeal that has irreparably altered her life.

Breahannah Leary still gets emotional when she describes how she broke free of her sex trafficker nearly eight years ago and helped put him in prison.

The first time Breahannah Leary met Penny (Gallegos) King in her Denver office in May 2015, she asked her father to wait in the car with the engine running. Leary didn’t foresee the conversation going well, if at all, and wanted a quick getaway. At the time, Leary was out on bond for solicitation charges and failing to appear for a traffic violation. She had zero faith that law enforcement was on her side.

Greg Day, who is Eastern Shoshone and lives in Ethete on the Wind River Indian Reservation, recently launched the “Dawn and Jeff I won’t be Silent” foundation in memory of his two deceased children.
